Wendy Zanders is Your Declutter Coach and Professional Organizer, driven by a deep passion for helping the communities her family belongs to: Special Needs and Military. As a United States Army Veteran and homeschooling special needs mom, Wendy understands the unique challenges and joys of parenting within these contexts. Her family’s disAbilities encompass ADHD, Autism, PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression.

Throughout her childhood, Wendy faced significant hurdles as an underperformer in grade school due to undiagnosed Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). She often heard comments like:

  • "Wendy is so distracted; she can't hear a pin drop without turning around".

  • "Wendy is lazy; she needs to try harder".

However, her resilience and determination propelled her to work even harder, ultimately leading her to discover strategies that helped her make the honor roll in high school. Wendy’s journey has shaped her into a compassionate advocate for families seeking effective solutions to support themselves and their child(ren).

Military Journey

After enlisting in the United States Army in June of 2000, Wendy applied the same strategies she learned in high school to create systems and organization in her fast-paced jobs. This approach allowed her to excel as a Unit Supply Specialist and Unit Armorer. She utilized her innate talent for organizing to keep her unit’s stocks categorized and arranged. Wendy took over a failing arms room, making it excel in quarterly arms room inspections. When she received high praise for her work, she began to see how much her skills and talents were needed and how naturally they came to her.

Empowering Families Through Decluttering

While filling out the ADHD parent assessment for her son, Wendy realized he was experiencing the same struggles she had as a child, leading them to receive their ADHD diagnosis that same year. This experience deepened Wendy’s understanding of the challenges faced by special needs and military communities.

Now, she helps these communities get organized by assisting them in identifying what has created the clutter in their lives and developing systems to help them regain control of their spaces and lives. With a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, Wendy is happy to be the coach in your corner, helping you feel happier and calmer in every room of your home.

In 2017, Wendy combined the knowledge gained from her personal experiences with her aptitude for systems and organizing to become a Professional Organizer and Your Declutter Coach. She guides clients step-by-step through the process so they feel encouraged, confident, and EXCITED about organizing their space.

Homeschool Mom

Wendy started homeschooling her kids in 2019 when Keyshon began 6th grade and Azaniah began Kindergarten. She believes in interest-based learning, as all subjects can be taught in a fun way that inspires the child. Since no two kids are alike, no two approaches will be the same; there is no one-size-fits-all approach in their home.

Keyshon is a homeschool graduate and became a Professional Welder at 16, with dreams of someday owning his own welding business. Wendy continues to advocate for teens looking to pursue trades.

Azaniah is 11 years old and is learning Japanese and Spanish, aspiring to travel the world. In the meantime, she’s excited about exploring space and hopes to become an Astronomer and Astrophotographer.

Azaniah is looking through the lens of a telescope for daytime planet viewing.
